Football Recap: Jefferson Keeps Newton's Under Pressure

If Jefferson was riding high fresh off their 56-12 takedown of Leonard last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bulldogs fell 22-14 to the Newton Eagles on Friday. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Jefferson lost, don't look at Tre Moss. Despite the final result, he rushed for 107 yards, and also picked up 30 receiving yards.

Even if they lost, Jefferson's defense still kept up the pressure with four sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Fisher Bradley, Kobin Tomlinson, and Markevion Tatum, who each picked up one sack apiece. Bradley was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making 16 total tackles (5.0 for loss).

Kendray Porter had a dynamite game For Newton., rushing for 105 yards and one score. Cavland Hunter was in the mix as well, providing the Eagles with one TD.

Jefferson's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Newton, the victory also got them back to even at 1-1.

Jefferson wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 35-0 win against De Kalb on the 12th. As for Newton, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 42-12 victory against Tatum on the 12th.
