Baseball Recap: Gillespie Find Success

Gillespie won the last time they faced Pana and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Miners came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 10-5. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Miners.

Luke Schuckenbrock was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched 3.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Schuckenbrock was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. He has become a key player for Gillespie: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-5 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nathan Haywood, who scored three runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Colin Griffith, who scored two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Gillespie now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Pana, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

Coincidentally, Gillespie and Pana will both be playing Carlinville the next time they take the field. The Miners will host the Cavaliers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, while the Panthers will host them at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
