Softball Recap: Westfall Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Westfall, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Lynchburg-Clay a 2-0 shutout on Saturday. Westfall has seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw Lynchburg-Clay, too.

Westfall's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kenzie Cook, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI. Gabby Henry also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Westfall is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Lynchburg-Clay, their loss dropped their record down to 8-3.

Coming up, Westfall will take on Southeastern at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Lynchburg-Clay, they will square off against Manchester at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Greyhounds' pitching crew has only allowed 1.6 runs per game this season, so the Mustangs' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
