Baseball Recap: Volcano Vista Victorious

While Volcano Vista's win against Eldorado wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Volcano Vista sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 victory over Eldorado on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Hawks have posted since March 8th.

Cash Tweedy looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Josiah Gutierrez, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Jason Sanchez also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Volcano Vista is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. Eldorado's loss dropped their record down to 8-4.

Volcano Vista will have a chance to go back-to-back against Eldorado: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
