Basketball Recap: Garinger Wildcats vs. East Mecklenburg Eagles
Garinger was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They had to suffer through a 64-28 loss at the hands of the East Mecklenburg Eagles. The Wildcats were down 53-20 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Jurnee Darling was a one-woman wrecking crew for East Mecklenburg as she went 9 of 18 on her way to 19 points and three steals. That's the most points Darling has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Mackenna Weisner, who went 6 for 14 en route to 16 points.
Garinger's defeat dropped their record down to 3-15. As for East Mecklenburg, their win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-14.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Garinger will welcome Independence at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for East Mecklenburg, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Central Cabarrus at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
