Soccer Game Preview: Haynes Academy vs. Covington

Haynes Academy will face off against the Covington Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Haynes Academy is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Ursuline Academy just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They came up short against the Lions, falling 6-1. Having soared to a lofty eight goals in the game before, Haynes Academy couldn't push the score so high this time.

Their goal came courtesy of Kalyn Bibbins, who's now up to 15 this season.

Meanwhile, Covington fell victim to Fontainebleau and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They lost 8-0 to the Bulldogs. The loss continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now lost nine in a row.

Covington's defeat dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Haynes Academy, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-3.

Haynes Academy skirted past Covington 1-0 in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. Does Haynes Academy have another victory up their sleeve, or will Covington turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
