Mt. Eden is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Arroyo is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Monarchs will host the Dons at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

The home team had come away the winner the last four times Mt. Eden and San Lorenzo had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Monarchs were the clear victors by a 10-4 margin over the Grizzlies on Friday. Considering the Monarchs have won seven matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Jayden Schafer made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Mt. Eden is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 8-9 otherwise. Schafer was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Cristian Alvarenga was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Mt. Eden's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 7-9 when he doesn't). Mateo Romo was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Arroyo). Their pitchers stepped up to hand Tennyson a 29-0 shutout on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Dons in their matchups with the Lancers: they've now won six in a row.

Like Mt. Eden, Arroyo also got a great game from a two-way player: Christian Salling. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave Salling a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Michael Morgan, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and one double. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Justin Darosa, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Arroyo kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.2 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 12.2.

Mt. Eden's victory bumped their record up to 11-9. As for Arroyo, the win got them back to even at 9-9.

Mt. Eden was able to grind out a solid victory over Arroyo in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, winning 3-0. Will the Monarchs repeat their success, or do the Dons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
