Baseball Recap: Centaurus Comes Up Short

Centaurus suffered their closest loss since April 13, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Northfield Nighthawks by a score of 6-4.

Centaurus got a good showing from Tavian Gomez, who pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Gomez has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Centaurus saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Parker Hilt, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI. Andrew Murphy also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Centaurus' defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Northfield, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Looking ahead, Centaurus will welcome Denver North at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Denver North has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.75 runs per game on average), something Centaurus will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Northfield, they will host George Washington at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. George Washington is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10 runs per game this season.
