Basketball Game Preview: Legend Titans vs. Ponderosa Mustangs

The Legend Titans will head out on the road to take on the Ponderosa Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Legend has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since January 24.

Last Tuesday, Legend didn't have quite enough to beat Highlands Ranch and fell 68-65. While the Titans didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Falcons 20-15 in the first quarter.

Legend's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Carson Flowers, who went 5-for-11 on his way to 13 points and six rebounds, and Kale Sparks, who went 8-for-12 en route to 17 points and six boards. Flowers has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Tyler Houlberg was another key player, putting up ten points.

Even though they lost, Legend was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Highlands Ranch only racked up nine assists.

Meanwhile, Ponderosa was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were outmatched by Chaparral and fell 86-26. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 164th, while the Wolverines are ranked third).

Legend's loss dropped their record down to 9-12. As for Ponderosa, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-16.

Legend couldn't quite finish off Ponderosa in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 and fell 69-67. Thankfully for Legend, Noah Wilhelm (who went 8-for-10 to rack up 27 points and eight boards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
