Basketball Game Preview: Pope John Paul II vs. Boyertown Bears

Pope John Paul II hasn't had much luck against Boyertown recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. Pope John Paul II will head out to face off against the Boyertown Bears at 6:45 p.m. Boyertown took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Pope John Paul II, who comes in off a win.

Pope John Paul II is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They really took it to Norristown for the full four quarters, racking up an 83-54 win. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Meanwhile, Boyertown ended up a good deal behind Methacton on Tuesday and lost 71-52. While losing is never fun, the Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 283rd, while the Warriors are ranked 134th).

Boyertown's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Pope John Paul II, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-2.

Pope John Paul II came up short against Boyertown when the teams last played back in January of 2023, falling 62-54. Can Pope John Paul II avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
