Softball Recap: Fallbrook Comes Up Short

Fallbrook extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping them down to 8-13. They came up short against the Westview Wolverines, falling 15-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wolverines this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 31-3 back in April.

Fallbrook saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kate Nath, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.

As for Westview, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-4-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games.

On Westview's side, Sierra Wallace spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits. Wallace has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kiana Rodriguez, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Reese Marier, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI and one run.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Fallbrook will take on rival Escondido at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Westview is set to challenge their familiar foe San Pasqual at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Wolverines 2.2, the Golden Eagles 2.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.
