Baseball Game Preview: Huntingdon Bearcats vs. Central Dragons

The Huntingdon Bearcats are taking a road trip to take on the Central Dragons at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Huntingdon's pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so Central's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

It was a proper cat-fight when Huntingdon challenged Chestnut Ridge on Tuesday. The Bearcats fell just short of the Lions by a score of 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Bearcats have suffered since April 10, 2024.

Connor Moore made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple. He has become a key player for Huntingdon: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-2 otherwise. Brock Bryson also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Central). They blew past Hollidaysburg 17-6 on Monday. Considering the Dragons have won six matches by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Central got a massive performance out of Kyle Klotz, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI. Jay Hoenstine was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .634. The last time their OBP was this high was back in May of 2024.

Central's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-2. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Huntingdon, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-3.

Huntingdon might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from Central in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Bearcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
