Recap: St. John's Catholic Prep Vikings vs. The Academy of the Holy Cross Tartans
On Wednesday, the St. John's Catholic Prep Vikings faced The Academy of the Holy Cross Tartans in a battle between two of the state's top teams. St. John's Catholic Prep was beaten by The Academy of the Holy Cross 68-31. St. John's Catholic Prep was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as The Academy of the Holy Cross apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2014.
Several Vikings players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nadia Ferguson, who scored 14 points. The game was Ferguson's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Cayenne Pigeon, who scored 9 points.
The Academy of the Holy Cross got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Samantha Shively out in front who scored 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoey Seymour, who scored 14 points.
St. John's Catholic Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for The Academy of the Holy Cross, they have yet to lose a contest at home this season, leaving them with a 3-1 record.
St. John's Catholic Prep will take on Mount de Sales Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Mount de Sales Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Wednesday. The Academy of the Holy Cross will take on St. Timothy's in a holiday battle at 2:45 p.m. on December 16th at.
