Volleyball Recap: Newcomb Comes Up Short

Newcomb was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against the Tucumcari Rattlers, falling 3-0. The Skyhawks were not able to make up for their defeat to the Rattlers from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-18, 25-11.

Tucumcari was led to victory by Esperanza Martinez and Rhiannon Rey-Montoya. Martinez had nine digs and four aces, while Rey-Montoya had 20 assists and four digs. That's the most aces Martinez has posted since back in August. Melanie Lisabelle also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

Newcomb's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Tucumcari, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Newcomb wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 3-1 win against To'hajiilee on the 20th. As for Tucumcari, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Estancia on the 20th.
