Softball Game Preview: Athens Bulldogs vs. New Lexington Panthers

The Athens Bulldogs will challenge the New Lexington Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Athens' favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three matchups.

Athens came out on top against Meigs on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run fourth inning. The Bulldogs put the hurt on the Marauders with a sharp 13-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won six games by six runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, New Lexington came up short against Tri-Valley on Thursday, falling 17-2. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Scotties recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Athens has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for New Lexington, their loss dropped their record down to 8-10.

Athens took their win against New Lexington in their previous matchup back in April of 2021 by a conclusive 13-3 score. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
