Softball Recap: Mitchell Comes Up Short

Mitchell lost against Hendersonville back in March of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Mitchell Mountaineers lost 9-2 to the Hendersonville Bearcats.

Mitchell got a good showing from Brianna Nutter, who pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. The dominant performance gave Nutter a new career-low in hits.

At the plate, Mitchell saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zaiden Ayers, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Mitchell's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Hendersonville, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

While Mitchell had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
