Softball Game Preview: Hume-Fogg Blue Knights vs. Pearl-Cohn Firebirds

Hume-Fogg and Pearl-Cohn are an even 4-4 against one another since March of 2015, but likely not for long. The Blue Knights will welcome the Firebirds at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Hume-Fogg lost 16-4 to Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet on Tuesday.

Zyla Haynie was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played dating back to last season. Jayla Liddell was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.

Meanwhile, Pearl-Cohn was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Stratford, falling 20-4.

Pearl-Cohn's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Hume-Fogg, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Hume-Fogg took their victory against Pearl-Cohn in their previous meeting back in April of 2021 by a conclusive 19-0 score. Do the Blue Knights have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Firebirds turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
