Basketball Preview: Madeira MUSTANGS/AMAZONS vs. Mt. Healthy Fighting Owls
The Madeira MUSTANGS/AMAZONS will be playing in front of their home fans against the Mt. Healthy Fighting Owls at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Madeira had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They claimed a resounding 73-38 win over Finneytown at home. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Madeira has managed all season.
Madeira's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Will Manning, who scored 15 points along with five assists and two steals, and Aidan Hopewell, who scored 20 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hopewell has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Carson Shafer, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Mt. Healthy earned a 61-53 win over the Knights on Friday. The win was just what Mt. Healthy needed coming off of a 79-58 defeat in their prior match.
Madeira's victory bumped their record up to 4-14. As for Mt. Healthy, they pushed their record up to 4-14 with that win, which was their third straight at home.
