Gilbert had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 49-point drubbing they dealt Des Moines North on Friday. The Tigers blew past the Polar Bears, posting a 55-6 win. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won four contests by 22 points or more so far this season.

Gilbert's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-0. The home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 9.4 points on average over those games. As for Des Moines North, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.
