Baseball Game Preview: Hughes Springs Mustangs vs. Jefferson Bulldogs

Hughes Springs is a perfect 5-0 against Jefferson since February of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. Hughes Springs will host Jefferson at 7:00 p.m. The timing is sure in Hughes Springs' favor as the squad sits on six straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Jefferson has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.

On Friday, Hughes Springs needed a bit of extra time to put away Daingerfield. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Tigers, sneaking past 4-2.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Jefferson's offense. They fell just short of New Diana by a score of 1-0 on Friday.

Luke Gibbons spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on seven hits and racked up six Ks. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

Jefferson's defeat dropped their record down to 2-10-1. As for Hughes Springs, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season.

Hughes Springs took their victory against Jefferson in their previous meeting back in February by a conclusive 10-3. Will Hughes Springs repeat their success, or does Jefferson has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
