Basketball Recap: Richmond Red Devils vs. East Central Trojans

Richmond unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a blow against the East Central Trojans on Saturday, falling 67-29. The Red Devils lost against the Trojans in their previous head to head back in November of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 47-40 score last time.

East Central found their leader in sophomore Natalie Stenger, who shot 67% from the field to rack up 25 points and eight steals. Stenger is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last ten games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lilly Maple, who went 6-for-8 en route to 12 points along with six boards and four steals.

East Central has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Looking ahead, Richmond will square off against Anderson at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for East Central, they will take on Franklin County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
