Baseball Game Preview: East Surry Cardinals vs. West Wilkes Blackhawks

The East Surry Cardinals are taking a road trip to face off against the West Wilkes Blackhawks at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. West Wilkes took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on East Surry, who comes in off a win.

East Surry will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Wednesday, then bounced right back against North Wilkes on Friday. The Cardinals put the hurt on the Vikings with a sharp 12-2 win.

Meanwhile, while it was West Wilkes who put the first runs on the board on Friday, it was Surry Central who put up more. The Blackhawks came up short against the Golden Eagles, falling 16-3. The Blackhawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

East Surry has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for West Wilkes, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-9.

Everything went East Surry's way against West Wilkes when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as East Surry made off with an 11-4 win. Will the Cardinals repeat their success, or do the Blackhawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
