Baseball Recap: Elizabethton Gets the Win

Elizabethton won the last time they faced Daniel Boone and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Fighting Cyclones had just enough and edged out the Trailblazers 4-3. The game was the first time the Fighting Cyclones have beaten the Trailblazers on their field since March 19, 2025.

Rhett Slagle spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ryan Kasting, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Justin Whitehead, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Elizabethton has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-13 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for Daniel Boone, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-15.

Coming up, Elizabethton will face off against Dobyns-Bennett at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Daniel Boone, they will challenge South Greene at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
