Softball Recap: Evansville Memorial Picks Up Sixth Straight Win on the Road

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Saturday as neither Evansville Memorial nor Vincennes Lincoln made it on the board until the sixth inning. The Tigers came out on top against the Alices by a score of 6-2. That's more bragging rights for the Tigers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Brianna Canaan made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and three RBI.

Canaan wasn't the only one making solid contact as eight players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Annie Blackburn, who went 2-for-5 with one stolen base and one run. Another was Mallory Wollenmann, who went 2-for-5 with one run and one RBI.

Evansville Memorial kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 8-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Evansville Memorial pushed their record up to 11-6 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Vincennes Lincoln, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-10.
