Basketball Recap: Vance County Vipers vs. South Granville Vikings

Vance County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss dating back to last season. They took a blow against the South Granville Vikings, falling 76-49. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Vipers of the 88-44 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January.

Despite the loss, Vance County saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Quiheem Glover dropped a double-double with 19 points and ten boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Glover has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Del'Quaveon Bullock, who posted five points and eight steals.

South Granville found their leader in freshman Braeden Greenup, who went 13-for-25 en route to 27 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. DJ Hicks was another key player, putting up 18 points.

Vance County's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for South Granville, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Vance County has already played their next matchup (against Henderson Collegiate), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. South Granville will be paying especially close attention to the Vipers' contest: after the Vipers face off against the Pride, they'll take on South Granville again at 7:30 p.m. on December 2.
