Basketball Game Preview: Monticello Buckaroo vs. Dove Creek Bulldogs

Monticello is 0-10 against Dove Creek since December of 2019 but things could change on Tuesday. The Monticello Buckaroo will host the Dove Creek Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m.

Monticello will head into Tuesday's contest out to bounce back: they won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Tuesday. They were beaten by Monument Valley 64-37.

Despite the loss, Monticello had strong showings from Makenna Peterson, who went 9 for 14 on her way to 21 points, and Braylee Freestone, who went 5 of 8 en route to 11 points. Freestone is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played.

Meanwhile, Dove Creek waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They strolled past the Demons with points to spare, taking the game 43-29. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 115th, while the Demons are ranked 284th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Dove Creek pushed their record up to 8-3 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.8 points per game. As for Monticello, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-11.
