Basketball Game Preview: Mayflower Eagles vs. Dover Pirates

The Mayflower Eagles will take on the Dover Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.

Mayflower is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Perryville just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Wednesday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 46-45 to the Mustangs.

Meanwhile, Dover put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on Perryville with a sharp 75-49 win. The Pirates have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 22 matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Dover's victory was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 24-0. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.9 points per game. As for Mayflower, their loss dropped their record down to 11-8.

Mayflower was dealt a bruising 63-34 defeat at the hands of Dover in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Mayflower was down 43-23.
