Baseball Recap: De Anza Dons vs. Salesian College Preparatory Pride
De Anza had lost six straight at home dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped down to 0-11 to make it seven. They lost 12-2 to the Salesian College Preparatory Pride. The Dons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pride apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.
De Anza saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Russell Veals, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one run.
As for Salesian College Preparatory, the win got them back to even at 6-6-1. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by six runs or more this season.
On Salesian College Preparatory's side, the team relied heavily on Salvador Guerra, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. Guerra has become a key player for the Pride: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-6-1 otherwise. Kevin Sampson was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. De Anza will host Albany at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. This will be the Dons' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Salesian College Preparatory, they will welcome St. Joseph Notre Dame at 4:00 p.m. on April 7.
