Softball Recap: Steinbrenner Takes a Loss

Thursday just wasn't the day for Steinbrenner's offense. They fell just short of the Newsome Wolves by a score of 1-0 on Thursday. It was the first time this season that the Warriors let down their fans at home.

Lilly Patton spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances.

Steinbrenner's loss dropped their record down to 12-5. As for Newsome, the win (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 14-3.

Coming up, Steinbrenner will square off against Wesley Chapel at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season. As for Newsome, they will take on Bloomingdale at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
