Basketball Recap: Georgia-Cumberland Academy Picks Up Third Straight Win on the Road

Georgia-Cumberland Academy had won two straight road games and Austin Samms did his part to make it three on Monday. The Jaguars managed a 70-66 victory over the Cornerstone Prep Academy Cougars for which the team can thank Samms, who posted 21 points and seven assists. Samms is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season.

Talon Robinson was another key player, dropping a double-double with 14 points and ten rebounds. He has become a key player for Georgia-Cumberland Academy: the team is undefeated when he posts at least eight boards, but 1-2 otherwise.

Cornerstone Prep Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Seth Bledsoe, who went 9-for-14 on his way to 23 points and eight rebounds. Thanks to that strong game, he now owns an excellent 47.1% field goal percentage. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Stone, who had 15 points.

Georgia-Cumberland Academy's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Cornerstone Prep Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.

Coming up, Georgia-Cumberland Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against CSTHEA at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Jaguars will need to watch out since the Patriots have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Cornerstone Prep Academy, they will also get right back to it: they'll face off against Excel Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars will be up against the Eagles' rather soft defense (which has allowed 65.5 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
