Baseball Game Preview: Patrick Henry Patriots vs. Cathedral Catholic Dons

For the second straight game, Patrick Henry will face off against Cathedral Catholic. The Patriots will challenge the Dons at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Patrick Henry's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Cathedral Catholic's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Patrick Henry and Cathedral Catholic, and Patrick Henry kept the tradition alive. The Patriots walked away with an 8-4 victory over the Dons on Monday.

Alex Mestman was excellent, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Preston Conklin was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Patrick Henry hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cathedral Catholic struck out six times.

Patrick Henry's win bumped their record up to 13-7-2. As for Cathedral Catholic, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 12-7.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Patrick Henry has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Cathedral Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.6 strikeouts.
