Basketball Recap: Poplar Springs Takes a Loss

Poplar Springs lost against Chipley back in November of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Poplar Springs Atomics lost to the Chipley Tigers on the road by a 44-29 margin. While losing is never fun, the Atomics can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 521st, while the Tigers are ranked 206th).

Chipley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Abby Thompson led the charge by putting up three points and six steals. The dominant performance also gave Thompson a new career-high in assists (four). Another player making a difference was Addyson Suggs, who posted 12 points.

Poplar Springs' loss dropped their record down to 5-18. As for Chipley, their record is now 15-7.

Poplar Springs does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Chipley, they will take on Graceville at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Graceville will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Chipley surely won't give up without a fight.
