Volleyball Recap: Memorial Warriors vs. Sunnyvale
Memorial was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Sunnyvale. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Sunnyvale apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2023.
Memorial started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. The match finished with set scores of 24-26, 25-22, 25-17.
Their offense was headlined by Faith Roulston-Aliu and Samantha Everidge, who picked up 12 kills apiece. They got some help from Valentina Elsen and her 19 assists. Roulston-Aliu was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.
Memorial's loss dropped their record down to 14-9. As for Sunnyvale, their win bumped their record up to 22-3.
Memorial didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Tyler Legacy on the 30th. As for Sunnyvale, they will challenge Forney at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
