Softball Preview: Garfield-Palouse Vikings vs. Dayton Bulldogs
Garfield-Palouse has been on the road for two straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Dayton Bulldogs at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Last Thursday, it was a hard-fought game, but Garfield-Palouse had to settle for an 11-10 defeat against Pullman.
Garfield-Palouse saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emma Orfe, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan Lentz, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, it was close, but two weeks ago Dayton sidestepped Colton for a 17-16 win. The victory was just what Dayton needed coming off of a 14-6 loss in their prior contest.
Peyton Benavides made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Benavides was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a home run, three runs, and four RBI.
In other batting news, Dayton got a massive performance out of Marissa Tupling, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 4-for-4. Kamryn Tupling was another key contributor, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
Garfield-Palouse's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Dayton, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.
