Softball Game Preview: Hamilton Lions vs. East Union Urchins

For the second straight game, Hamilton will face off against East Union. Hamilton will head out to challenge East Union at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hamilton has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with three straight defeats, while East Union will come in with nine straight victories.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Hamilton's offense. They lost 11-0 to East Union on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Lions have suffered since February 21st.

For East Union's part, Lucy Cochran made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. What's more, Cochran gave up only zero walks, the fewest she's had since back in February. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Madi Robbins was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Caroline Sherwood also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

East Union kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

East Union's win was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Hamilton, they now have a losing record of 6-7.
