Preview: Vista Ridge Wolves vs. Doherty Spartans
The Vista Ridge Wolves will head out on the road to take on the Doherty Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
On Friday, Vista Ridge came up short against Pine Creek and fell 76-65.
Meanwhile, Doherty entered their tilt with Fountain-Fort Carson with nine consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with ten. Doherty breezed by Fountain-Fort Carson on the road to the tune of 59-32 on Friday. Given Doherty's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 16th, while Fountain-Fort Carson is ranked 160th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Doherty's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Maddox Dee-Mortensen, who scored 17 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Solomon Latimer, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds.
Vista Ridge has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 11 of their last 13 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season. As for Doherty, they pushed their record up to 16-5 with that victory, which was their seventh straight on the road.
Vista Ridge ended up a good deal behind Doherty in their previous meeting back in January, losing 67-53. Can Vista Ridge avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
