Basketball Recap: Randy Johnson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Olympic over Myers Park

Olympic lost against Myers Park back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Olympic Trojans lost to the Myers Park Mustangs at home by a 84-66 margin. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (59), the Trojans still had to take the loss.

Olympic's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Randy Johnson, who went 6 for 11 on his way to 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of De'Angelo Hall, who posted 11 points.

It was another big night for Bram Early, who went 6 of 8 from beyond the arc on his way to 33 points in addition to six assists and six boards for Myers Park. That makes it three consecutive games in which Early has scored at least a third of Myers Park's points. Another player making a difference was Josh Hines, who went 7 of 11 en route to 20 points along with six boards and three steals.

Olympic's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 12-3. As for Myers Park, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a massive bump to their 7-9 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Olympic will challenge Ardrey Kell at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Ardrey Kell will roll in looking for their 12th straight win, something Olympic surely won't give up without a fight. As for Myers Park, they will square off against Berry at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Myers Park is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 64.6 points per game this season.
