Baseball Recap: Glen Rose Wins Going Away Against Jim Ned

After only two runs in their last matchup, Glen Rose made sure to put some runs up on the board against Jim Ned on Thursday. The Glen Rose Tigers put the hurt on the Jim Ned Indians with a sharp 10-2 victory. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Tigers' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Jeg Shirley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Glen Rose is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-6 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Joe Randell was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. That home run marked the first that he launched this season. Another player making a difference was Adrian Sanchez, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.

Glen Rose's record now sits at 8-6. As for Jim Ned, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Glen Rose Tigers challenge Godley Wildcats at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Jim Ned, they will host San Angelo Texas Leadership Charter Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. San Angelo Texas Leadership Charter Academy has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 17.75 runs per game on average), something Jim Ned will no doubt try to take advantage of.
