Softball Recap: Black River Falls Takes a Loss

Black River Falls was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 13th straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 14-13 heartbreaker at the hands of the Wisconsin Dells Chiefs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tigers of the 12-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Kaylee Wood put in work while hitting and pitching. She tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and 13 unearned) runs off seven hits. That's the fewest earned runs she has allowed since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That double was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Kenley Brown was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Rylea Lindow, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.

Black River Falls' record is now 1-21. As for Wisconsin Dells, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-5 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Black River Falls will challenge Westby at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Wisconsin Dells, they will take on Nekoosa at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
