Baseball Game Preview: Judge Memorial Catholic Bulldogs vs. Ogden Tigers

The Judge Memorial Catholic Bulldogs will venture away from home to face off against the Ogden Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Judge Memorial Catholic will bounce into Saturday's game after beating Summit Academy, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Bulldogs came out on top in a nail-biter against the Bears on Wednesday, sneaking past 10-8. Winning may never get old, but the Bulldogs sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

The team relied heavily on Aidan Dorn, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Judge Memorial Catholic's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 6-11 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Buddy Kuftinec, who earned one run and three stolen bases.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ogden). They blew past Ben Lomond 17-4 on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tigers.

Denver Rhodes was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Kash Thompson, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Ogden was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .484. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive matches.

Judge Memorial Catholic's record is now 9-11. As for Ogden, their record now sits at 4-18.

Everything went Judge Memorial Catholic's way against Ogden in their previous meeting back in March of 2021, as Judge Memorial Catholic made off with a 19-6 victory. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
