Baseball Game Preview: Evansville Memorial Tigers vs. North Posey Vikings

The Evansville Memorial Tigers will take on the North Posey Vikings at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Evansville Memorial's pitching crew has only allowed 2.3 runs per game this season, so North Posey's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

It was a proper cat-fight when Evansville Memorial faced off against Evansville Mater Dei on Thursday. The Tigers skirted past the Wildcats 4-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tigers.

Meanwhile, North Posey entered their tilt with Evansville Reitz on Saturday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 9-1 win. Considering the Vikings have won 11 games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Jed Galvin made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI.

In other batting news, Ethan Mansfield was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Colby Angel, who went 1-for-3 with three runs and one double.

North Posey pushed their record up to 17-7 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Evansville Memorial, their victory bumped their record up to 14-3.

Evansville Memorial skirted past North Posey 4-3 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Vikings turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
