Recap: Evergreen Cougars vs. Ponderosa Mustangs
The Evergreen Cougars suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Saturday. They had to suffer through a rough 67-29 loss at the hands of Ponderosa. While losing is never fun, Evergreen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 240th, while Ponderosa is ranked 23rd).
Despite the loss, Evergreen still got an impressive performance from Hayden Riddle, who scored four points along with five rebounds and two steals. That's the first time this season that Riddle grabbed two or more steals.
It was another big night for Carson Keach, who scored 23 points along with six rebounds and six steals for Ponderosa. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Miskovic, who scored 11 points along with four steals.
Evergreen has been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season. As for Ponderosa, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Evergreen the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Alameda at 7:30 p.m. on January 17th. Alameda is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Ponderosa, Ponderosa and Regis Jesuit will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Regis Jesuit focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Saturday.
