Basketball Recap: Preston Avery's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Wake Christian Academy over Wilmington Christian Academy

Wake Christian Academy was the 74-40 winner over Wilmington Christian Academy when they last played one another back in November of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The Wake Christian Academy Bulldogs lost 67-45 to the Wilmington Christian Academy Patriots on Tuesday. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Preston Avery, who posted 12 points. Paxton Coon was another key player, putting up 15 points.

Trent Davies was his usual excellent self, going 9 of 15 en route to 28 points for Wilmington Christian Academy. Davies is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 15 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Maddox Batts, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine boards.

Wake Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Wilmington Christian Academy, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-8.
