Basketball Recap: North Edgecombe Extends Home Winning Streak to Five

While North Edgecombe's victory against Warren County wasn't quite the blowout they won the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The North Edgecombe Warriors came out on top in a nail-biter against the Warren County Eagles on Tuesday, sneaking past 51-48. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 65-34 back in December of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Warren County lost, don't look at Mariah Harris. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 28 points and 17 rebounds. With that strong performance, Harris is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. Another player making a difference was Za'Kiyah Macklin, who posted ten points in addition to five boards and three steals.

North Edgecombe pushed their record up to 10-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.2 points per game. As for Warren County, their loss dropped their record down to 7-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Edgecombe will take on Wilson Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Wilson Prep knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matches -- so hopefully North Edgecombe likes a good challenge. As for Warren County, they will face off against KIPP P at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Warren County is facing KIPP P at the right time seeing as KIPP P is stuck on a 12-game losing streak.
