Softball Recap: Stratford Comes Up Short

Stratford extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping their season record down to 4-11-1 in the process. They came up short against the Cane Bay Cobras, falling 10-1. Knights fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Cobras since on Friday.

As for Cane Bay, the win got them back to even at 10-10. The game was the first time they have beaten Stratford on their field since April 4, 2022.

For Cane Bay's part, Isabella Kelly spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits. Kelly has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Emma Tychek, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jasmine Dargan, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Coincidentally, Stratford and Cane Bay will both be playing Berkeley the next time they take the field. The Cobras will head out to face the Stags at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, while the Knights will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
