Baseball Game Preview: Independence Knights vs. Heritage Coyotes

The Independence Knights will challenge the Heritage Coyotes at 1:00 p.m. on Friday.

Independence is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They walked away with a 16-12 win over Heritage on Tuesday. The game was the first time the Knights have beaten the Coyotes on their field since April 23, 2022.

For Heritage's part, Luke Dettling was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-5. The dominant performance gave Dettling a new career-high in runs. Brady Jacobson was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

Dettling wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Heritage kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.

The victory got Independence back to even at 5-5. As for Heritage, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-10-1 record this season.
