Baseball Recap: Stevenson Snaps Three-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Stevenson won the last time they faced Deerfield and things went their way on Saturday too. The Patriots came out on top against the Warriors by a score of 5-1.

Andrew Langerman looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Matteo Nolasco, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Stevenson's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is undefeated (and 10-15 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Troung, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Stevenson's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 13-15. As for Deerfield, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-16 record this season.

Stevenson will look to defend their home field on Monday against Zion-Benton at 4:45 p.m. As for Deerfield, they are taking a road trip to challenge New Trier at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. The Trevians' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Warriors' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
