West Springfield has gone 8-2 against Fairfax recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The West Springfield Spartans will square off against the Fairfax Lions at 1:30 p.m. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for West Springfield and seven for Fairfax.

West Springfield came up short against Robinson on Thursday, falling 48-22. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 73rd, while the Rams are ranked 11th).

Meanwhile, Fairfax lost to Woodson at home by a 50-34 margin on Thursday.

Fairfax's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8. As for West Springfield, they now have a losing record at 5-6.

West Springfield was able to grind out a solid victory over Fairfax when the teams last played back in February of 2024, winning 39-29. The rematch might be a little tougher for West Springfield since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
