Softball Recap: West Islip Takes a Loss

West Islip extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping their season record down to 6-10 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-8 heartbreaker at the hands of the West Babylon Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-2 back in April.

As for West Babylon, they pushed their record up to 10-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games.

For West Babylon's part, they let Storm Romano and Sarah Caltabiano run wild. Romano went 3-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Caltabiano went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That triple was Romano's first of the season. Daniella Nocera was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs.

As of now, neither West Islip nor West Babylon have any future games scheduled.
