Baseball Game Preview: Lone Pine Golden Eagles vs. Mammoth Huskies

Lone Pine is 1-9 against Mammoth since April of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Golden Eagles are taking a road trip to challenge the Huskies at 3:15 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Lone Pine has four straight victories, Mammoth has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Lone Pine played against Immanuel Christian on Friday and won via forfeit.

Boron hit Mammoth with a nine-run fourth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Huskies came up short against the Bobcats, falling 14-3.

DJ Gray made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in two of his three plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Martin Walker, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Lone Pine pushed their record up to 9-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Mammoth, their loss dropped their record down to 3-11.

Lone Pine skirted past Mammoth 4-3 in their previous meeting back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Golden Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
